1987 Johnson 28 remote to tiller conversion help

I'm looking at buying a 1987 johnson 28 tomorrow for my 14ft sea nymph. It is remote control equipped but i like it because it is electric start and I assume it has a stator. I will need to convert it to tiller though. What parts will fit it and where can I get them? I dont think the 28 was available from the factory as tiller.

Not saying it can't be done, but am saying it becomes quite involved. You have to start off with replacing the steering bracket (front carrying handle). You can use the parts lists here at marineengine to research other differences. Compare to 25 and 30hp.

According to the parts diagrams almost all small johnson/evinrudes used the same steering bracket. Am I correct in this? So any of them should bolt up?
