I have an old 8 horse Evinrude my dad gave me. he said as long as i fixed it, its mine. he said it has almost no compression in one of the cyl. so i am pretty sure i need new piston rings. i recently ordered some as well as a new head gasket. i took the head off and its a good thing i ordered a new gasket because this one is shot. however i still am going to replace the rings. i know how to replace the rings i just don't know how to get the piston out. is there any way to do this other than tearing down the rest of the motor?? if anybody has any information it would be greatly appreciated

You have to remove the powerhead from the exhaust housing.-------Remove flywheel and everything else.---------Split the block and remove connecting rods and pistons.--------Work carefully and good luck with it.
