I have a rebuilt Evinrude 200 XP that has performed well for the last two years. I usually try to run the boat at least a couple of times a month; however, recently the boat sat for about a month and a half. I started the engine on the muffs and noticed it is barely peeing- only a few drips. But water was coming out of the lower unit and the engine was not burning-hot to the touch so I assume the water pump is working (replaced the water pump 4 months ago). I removed the pee hose from the cowling and at a round disc-shaped valve mounted on the side of the engine - there were no obstructions in the hose. As a matter of fact, after removing the hose, there was no water coming out of the valve itself.
Not sure what to do next. Could the thermostat cause this? Do I need to check for other obstructions?
I have read that this engine uses an "aspirator" type cooling design which was later discontinued. Is there a way to simplify this?
