"}[b] I HAVE PURCHASED A USED

"} I HAVE PURCHASED A USED BOAT AND MOTOR. WHEN I SQUEEZE THE GAS BULB, GAS LEAKS OUT OF THE TOP OF WHAT I THINK IS THE VRO. SO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS A GASKET THERE OR DO I NEED TO BYPASS THE WHOLE AREA. IF SO HOW DO I DO THIS? THANKS"

In the link above is a cutaway view of the VRO pump. If a gasket is leaking, you might be further ahead to replace the whole pump in case the housing is warped. Before you do that, make sure the discharge hose on the top is in good condition and clamped securily. You can't bypass the VRO. It serves as both a fuel and oil pump. If you end up replacing it, you could opt for a fuel pump only option for a lower cost, but you will have to manually mix oil with the gas."
