"Hi just came across this site

"Hi just came across this site - I have a 1987 Suzuki DT200 I am "ressurecting" after it has sat unused for several years. So far I have everything working except that the motor does not want to start (cold) when I first crank it up. If I open the "manual start" screw just in front of the flywheel 2 turns and then close it she fires up as soon as I turn the key. Once it has started the first time it fires up on the first crank every time and runs smoothly. Is this the "Starter valve" ?? and if so how would I go about diagnosing it ? My guess is a bad solenoid but I wanted to see if anyone had an idea before I throw money at it.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

"Yes, I actually traced it to

"Yes, I actually traced it to the solenoid, there is a manual (screw) override that bypasses it. If you open the bypass it cranks right up. I took the solenoid off and hooked it directly to a battery and got nothing. The actuator arm was corroded a bit and gas had penetrated the seal. The part is on order - should be here in a few days. I'll be back if it dosen't work, either way the solenoid was shot."
