Hi guys,

I've just taken off the float on the WMA 6 carburettor, and the pointed conical tip of the needle, is not worn however is black. My question is, is the tip made of rubber or is it just dirty metal??
The rest of the carburettor looks fairly clean. I understand from reading the manual that I shouldn't use carb cleaner on any rubber components thus the question.
I look forward to your reply. Thanks in advance.

Kevin.

On some engines the needle has a rubber tip which is black. Way to tell is to just take your fingernail and push on it. If it gives it is rubber. If you have a rubber component with contamination, alcohol and a rag can clean it off since the rubber is flexible and will allow the caked on crud to break loose.
