1987 90 hp VRO will not restart

After a higher throttle run, slow, idol, shut down. The engine will not restart right away. It seems like it is flooded. Tilting up and letting it sit or putting the throttle to full and running the starter will often times get it to fire up.

If I get to where I am going and let it idol or troll it is just fine. no issues. It is only at shut down (picking up a skier or dropping at the dock while I get the trailer. something to that effect is where it will not restart.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
Are you choking it at all? My engine will not restart if I push key in on restart; I have to raise the throttle up a tad and hit the starter with no choke. Good luck
 
Compression test results are ?---------------Has the starter motor been tested / inspected / looked at ?-----------Slow cranking due to a poor battery / bad wires / bad starter / bad brushes leads to marginal spark.
