1987 90 HP Johnson Alarm

Hey Guys,

I've got a 1987 Glasstream bass boat with a 90 HP Johnson on the back. Recently, after I've cranked up the boat and start to edge the throttle forward just a bit (little bit faster than idle speed) the throttle box will produce a fairly loud alarm sound within 3-4 minutes of the engine running. If I turn the engine off, it stops, and then if I turn the engine back on, it makes the same alarm sound within another 3-4 minutes of running. The alarm is not constant, but its intermittent and will continue buzzing in 2-3 second intervals. It also seems to get worse the further down you are on the throttle.

I have a video of it as well if there's a way to upload.

Any thoughts?

Thanks. We did do that, and the oil level looks acceptable, but still the same Alarm sound.

I was also reading where the engine could be overheating. The pee stream is strong, and I can't see any other signs of overheating...(warning lights, etc)...I'm stumped.

Facts----The water coming from the pee stream does NOT go through the engine.----Engine can be overheating due to internal blockage.---Overheat warning is a steady / constant beep.---Checked thermostats and poppit valves ?----Model # of your motor is ?-----Is oil level in the tank going down the correct amount ?----Have you tested oil output from the VRO ?----Salt water exposure ?---
