1987 80 hp mercury flooding

"Motor had been running good,

"Motor had been running good, started it and didn't want to idle. I noticed it was smoking more than usual and would only run at about half throttle. when i disconnect gas as it begins to run out of gas it will clear up and run good. Boat had been sitting for 2 years. I am guessing it is flooding. This is a 3 cyl with 3 carbs. Any thing to do short of pulling carbs and cleaning and rebuilding? Thanks for your help.

Nope, Sounds like the

Nope, Sounds like the float in one or more of the carbs is sticking/stuck open. No a big deal just pull the float bowls and clean them up with carb cleaner. Just don't change any setting of the linkage when you remove them and everything should work just fine. If the floats are stuck there is a good chance the jets are blocked some as well. This could make the engine run lean and suffer a burn down. So make sure everything is clean."
