"I have an 1987 7.5 cobra out

"I have an 1987 7.5 cobra out drive on my 2550 bayliner sunbridge. Lower unit went out 3 years ago and the shop installed a repalcement. The new unit has also gone out. I have been told the larger lower gear set and housing, that belongs with the ford 460, is no longer available due to the short length of time it was in production. Does any one know of a fix for my problem or where I can find a new or rebuilt lower unit? Much thanks, Ryan"

Yes sei makes a replacement. Not original equipment but they have a 3 year no question replacement.

I checked with sei and was informed the unit was not adequate for the 7.5L ford 460. They do not know of a repacement part. Im looking for a version of the king cobra with the shifting mechanism or clutch dog in the lower end. But thanks for the lead.

"ebay had one this might be the chance to change over to a merc drive same hole in the transom, maybe look for a donor boat with a bad motor . That way you will have everything.

But the 460 motor itself is almost impossible to find parts for."
