thanks in advance and baby steps needed - photographs welcome

boat started - we moved across lake - trolled and time to move - no start..... argh!!!
it turns , cranks and tries to start but no vroom.....changed battery to fresh battery and no go.. choke on, then wait in case of flooding carb - retried but no.. trolled in - but small lake and we caught fish - so hard to be mad -

possible causes from my little bear brain --fuel or ignition -
how to check, where to begin

I might even toss new sparks in if I am going to pull them...
ok - so now lets say I check gap and even check spark with screw driver - for arc - like on car and everything good but no start -
what is next possible step -
AND - one big thing - is there a method to attaching hose to engine so I can avoid running without water in the event it actually turns over?

Yes, you can buy a flushett or muffs for it at any marine outlet store which you hook up to a garden hose.
