The exhaust runs as you describe, one runs warmer than the other.......just the nature of the beast.
As far as your temp, depending on the thermostat which should be either a 140, 143 or a 160 degree.
Your temp should be for normal use, 150 -160 degrees with the 140 and 143 thermostat, and 160-170 degrees with the 160 thermostat (+/-) a few depending on many factors.
If the gauge is reading 110 then either the sending unit is bad (could be a bad ground or sending unit itself) or a bad connection between the sending unit and the gauge. Look for any wire harness multi pin connectors and check them. typically under the dash area and also look at the main connector of the wire harness at the motor. Large black connector.
