I picked up a 1987 120 hp looper. The previous owner was a tinkerer and this thing has a few problems left in it.
The charging system is not working. When it runs at idle the volt meter is all over the place. When I give it a little gas, the meter settles out. The tach reads higher than what it runs at and is not even close to accurate. I changed out the voltage regulator/rectifier with a known good one. The tach worked, but the charging system is still out. Any help is appreciated.
