New to me 1986 115HP yamaha 115ETLJ
Work done so far:
- Carburator rebuild
- New fuel pump
-cleaned all fuel lines and filter
-New Tstats
-New Pressure valve
-New spark plugs
Issues:
Hard to start when cold. Eventually starts and idles fine. In neutral, while advancing throttle, starts to rev nicely then starts to miss and/backfires then quits.
Noticed:
- Weak sparks on all plugs
- Battery not charging at idle
- RPM gauge showing 0 when ignition on then goes straight to max 7000rpm as soon as motor starts.
Removed flywheel and found lots of corrosion under there.
Here are the Ohms readings from the stator:
Brown to red = 1020 Ohms
Blue to Blackred= 125.2 Ohms
Green to Green (charging coil)= 0.3 ohms
Trigger:
white red to white yellow = 341.6 ohms
white black to white green= 341.1 ohms.
What do you think of the readings of the stator? Seems to be pretty off.
Would a bad stator alone gives the symptoms I am getting?
Also, RPM gauge acting up could come from either stator charging coil or rectifier, right?
