Need more advice, my original problem had only idle speed on my 1986 85HP
Force, so i changed out ball pump, got new fuel, replaced related fuel
hoses, fuel pump diaphram, all three check valves and rebuilt carborator,
but am still not getting fuel to exit the pump to enter the carbs, while i
had the fuel pump cover off i turned over engine and put my fingers over the
tiny in and out holes on the block and did feel some in and out pressure
(dont know if that means anything) i also filled up the outlet hose going to
the carbs thinking it needed a little priming, well i got exited for about 2
minutes while it ran like charm then conked out, i think it used up all the
gas i introduced into the line but as soon as it ran out it stopped due to
lack of fuel. anybody know where i go from here?

Not sure why folks just start replacing parts ?------Testing and trouble shooting seems to be a lost art.----------Take the fuel pump apart and find out what is wrong / why it does not work.----As a test put the fuel tank above the motor and hook up the hose directly to the carburetors.-----Operate the primer bulb to fill the carburetors / set up the siphon.----See if motor continues to run.

it does continue to run when i did this test so my spark and carb rebuild should be ok, there is a gasket missing between the diaphram and the pump housing, wasn't there when i took it apart but i ordered it and will install it to see if any changes , will post result thanks for your input,

sure enough there is a seal or was at one point and it got worn away to nothing, so i put on new one and now it runs like a champ, however while i was at it i replaced water pump impeller but now it seems it does not have as much water coming out of the top hole does the motor need to be in the down position while sliding lower unit back up inside?

No,just make sure the pickup tube was installed right. Sometimes when the pump is removed the gasket falls down inside the lower cowl. It would be very unlikely it wore away to nothing?
