Tuesday took it out to run some tests on the charging system. Ran up and down the water for more than an hour wide open throttle. Loaded it up went home fairly pleased with the way it ran. Took it out Wednesday and for the first hour ran great and then after sitting and fishing a bit, it started hard and then vibration in the steering though I bent the prop checked it and no problems. Could not get full power after that about 5 mph is all it would muster limped it home and parked it.
Is there anything that would make it slip timing? Would fowling a plug ? It felt like only three of the four cylinders were firing during that period.

Look for linkages fallen off.-----And post the all important compression , actual test values here.----Timing generally can not go out of adjustment.----But check for a sheared flywheel key.

So the check box on sign in page, does that work for anyone else? Because everytime I open this page I need to login. Keep log in doesn’t seem to work for me anyway.

And so you think that running great on Tuesday and part of Wednesday calls for an overhaul? Maybe I’ll sink 15,000 in a new motor for a 38 year old boat. You start every response with what are the precious compression numbers???? and everything I have read is that 100 is fine and 5 to 10 % range is no problem. So what is it ? have you purchased stock in rebuild parts or did you do it for a living? Because you always recommend rebuilds. Not all of us have the ability to rebuild motors. Knowledge wise or financially.
