1986 Boat with Mercury MCM 185

I have acquired a 1986 boat for free and it has a mercruiser 229 c.i.d. model MCM 185 and the previous owner has it taken apart completely. I have been doing some research and there isn't much info on this motor. Is there a different motor that will work the the outdrive or at least I can reuse the opening? I have it stripped down to mainly just the block and I am ready to pull it out, I would like to just rebuild this block but parts list are had to find any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Is there any other engine I can swap and still use the same outdrive?

Probably a 4.3 I think they are rated at 190hp

Any 4.3 marine motor, Yes,,, Or, a 4.3 Chevy truck motor setup for marine use.
