bought the boat and motor aft

bought the boat and motor after it had been sitting up for a couple of years. After running it on the hose I took it to the water then after a couple of minutes the over heating alarm came on
water was coming out of the weep hole hard. can anyone help me the water pump was changed out before he set it up. He never had the buzzer before.

"Tim.... Just so we're on

"Tim.... Just so we're on the same track, the warning system on that model engine is:

Beep every other second = VRO failure, oil restriction, air in oil line, no oil.

Beep every 20 seconds = Oil level down to 1/4 tank.

Beep constant and steady = Overheating.

If the horn beep was steady (overheating), it's possible the water pump was installed improperly, or that one (or both) of the thermostats are stuck shut.

Note that the water pressure is applied to that water tell tale outlet area before it reaches the thermostats.
