"I have a 1986 70hp Yamaha on a 15.5ft Skeeter and can get up about 40mph on the lake with SS prop (not sure on the pitch) but would like to get a little more speed out of it...is there any performance upgrades that could help. Also the reverse gear is going out and got a $600 quote on fixing it, I would like to give it the old college try on doing it myself and would like any input you all may have. Thanks

"cant tell much from the pic b

"cant tell much from the pic but u could add a manual jackplate and as far as the gearcase goes, thats not a bad price, i would try it yourself unless you r certain you can do it. that could get very expensive"

you sure your gear shift is ad

you sure your gear shift is adjusted? If it's out just a bit it won't go in gear right. Might be worth $600 to check it.

yeah I adjusted it many times

yeah I adjusted it many times until it was all the way and the result was the same. It goes into gear but if I give it some gas it jumps out of gear and grinds its way back in.

Maybe you can fix it yourself.

Maybe you can fix it yourself. Wonder what the cost of the parts/gears would be? Good Luck!

salt water, you better have heat and a 30 pack !!!!

Well its a fresh water boat bu

Well its a fresh water boat but I may go ahead and run with the 30 pack to be on the safe side. Is there a web site that will show me a break down of the parts and hold my hand down this dark narrow path?
