1986 70HP Johnson stalling after one minute

Hello All,

I have a 1986 70 HP Johnson.
I have given this engine to a registered Johnson/Evinrude mechanic in June this year and got it serviced. (biggest renowned workshop since 1960s here)
They told me this engine is in an exceptionally good condition and after the service it has been working really well. no issues.

Recently however the engine starts stalling. If I let it run dry and then start it up again it will run well for half a minute or so and then the revs suddenly drop and it appears it starts running on two and then on one cylinder only until it stalls after one minute.

I live really far away from the next johnson mechanic and I can't go back there now. It's only been 6 months since the last service and what could possibly cause this issue?

I have uploaded a video of what I just described. Could someone please watch it and tell me how to fix this problem? The video is only 1 minute long.

EVERY help is much, much appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like it is running out of fuel.---------------Perhaps run this motor with known to be good hose and portable fuel tank.

@scalhoun - No I believe it's not a spin on fuel filter

@racerone - The fuel hose is brand new (june) and original Johnson part. The tank is Aluminium and is in the boat.

I'm seriously running out of ideas. I like the idea of keeping an old quality engine but this one seems to be hard work

Run it on a seperate 5 gallon tank !!!!!!!!!!!!-----------Then again for some folks , buying a new motor is a simple solution.

As "Boobie" suggests (above), in pumping that fuel primer bulb, you will be acting as a manual fuel pump. If the engine continues to run as long as the fuel bulb is pumped, then obviously the fuel pump (VRO if so equipped) has failed for some reason.

If on the other hand... if that fuel bulb has a tendency to be drawn flat, a fuel restriction exists.
