1986 60hp wont go wide open

I purchased this 1986 60hp 3 cylinder outboard over the winter as a project. I re-did all the fuel lines, fuel pump, cleaned the carbs, and put new spark plugs in. The spark jumps a 7/16" gap on all 3 cylinders. When I first took the boat out, I was going full throttle (35 mph) when suddenly it lost some power and would only do 25 mph. It cut in and out several times, and now its a little rough at idle, and wont reach full throttle. The plugs are quite wet when I pulled them, so I'm leaning towards an ignition problem. Any suggestions on where to start? Thanks!
 
Yes, I put a water pump kit in and did a compression test with 140 on all 3 cylinders. I also did the lower unit seals.
 
Check your stater, it sound like the high speed side of the stater has given out. The CDI sight has trouble shooting ohm and DVA readings for the staters.
 
The stator checked out good, and looked to be brand new. I decided to test the rectifier as well, and it was faulty. I switched it out, but don't really feel like going to the lake to test it with 30+ mph winds. I'll post my results some time next week when I can get it out. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
 
The rectifier winding and the high & low speed ignition winding are separate winding in your stater. One should not effect the other. So, replacing the rectifier shouldn't solve your problem. At this point, I would start looking for a dropped cylinder.
 
I haven't been able to get the boat out yet due to the weather, but found what I'm hoping was my problem. I noticed a bit of electrical tape on one of the wires from the coil to the switchbox. When I pulled it off, the wire was all chewed up and corroded. I replaced it, and will report back once I get the boat out.
 
I suggest you install regular type spark plugs that you can color read and try again. (The gapless ones can trick you.) I use Autolite 303s for this.

I took the boat out, and it ran great at first. After a while it started acting up again. I tried pulling plug wires while it was running. The top and middle plugs would kill the motor when pulled, and the bottom one made no difference in how it ran. While doing this, I noticed oil leaking from the bottom of the transfer port cover, and one of the bolts in the middle of it. After getting home and pulling the plugs, the bottom cylinder clearly wasn't getting fuel any more, and had lost about 15psi compression. So now the ignition appears to be good, but I ha e a fuel problem. I pulled the carbs and cleaned them again even though they were spotless, and order a new transfer port gasket. Could this gasket cause the lower cylinder to starve for fuel so much that it wont run right?
