"How many welch plugs should be removed when rebuilding a carb. How do you remove the needle bushing from below the lowspeed needle valve. Lastly, what is the port hole to the left of the needle valve seat for or is that supposed to be plugged? thanks for the help, im trying to get this motor running."

"I don't remove any of tho

"I don't remove any of those core plugs unless I strongly suspect something is lurking under them.

If you're speak of a very small clear nylon type bearing that the tip of the slow speed needle valve rests in, I use a very small tap which fits within that bearing but does not protrude thru it. Just enough to grab onto it.

That port hole is a float chamber vent. If air can't get out, fuel can't get in."

"Joe Thanks, I think I need to remove those plugs just to give this carb a good cleaning. I made the mistake of using fuel from last year thinking that the stabil I had put in had preserved it. Engine ran a short time than stalled. Maybe I can use a small nail set to get that bushing out. It does look like the larger welch plug is near that area also. Paul"
