"I have a 1986 Force 125 on a 19' Capri
The engine runs great at idle and all the way up through the entire RPM range, gets on plane easily and seems fine until about 5 minutes at WOT
Then the buzzer goes off
I replaced the water pump and housing, the thermostat and checked for obstructions in the water jacket and tube
I have a good flow of water at the pee-hole, but after 5 minutes wide open the buzzer goes off
If I bring the RPM's down it silences and runs fine
Any ideas short of not running WOT for 5 minutes?
That was my EX-mechanics suggestion
Thanks,
Joe"

Is there a replaceable temp se

Is there a replaceable temp sending unit or sensor that could be bad on this motor?
Could the alarm be faulty and going off at the wrong temp?
I'm out of ideas...

"Joe,
It seems to me this sort of issue was covered in a Chrysler Seloc repair manual. A stuck / clogged / corroded bypass valve was possible. I don't have a Seloc available now to verify. Maybe someone else can help with this.

As far as temp checks there are melt sticks and infrared devices available to verify overheating. A good mechanic will have this. On my 90 the overheat sensor (thermoswitch) is on the cylinder head cover with an orange lead attached."

"Thanks Dave,
That's something I haven't heard of, until now and at this point I'm wide open for suggestions
I have a Seloc manual, but I read the cooling section thoroughly and there was nothing mentioned there. I may need to get a Chrysler version and check that out
Thanks, in the mean time, I'll keep trollin'"

"After reading every available manual on these motors, I found this in an old Force repair manual #1100
I posted a scan from page 6-10 but if it's not clear, what it says is there were 3 different sending units made for these motors
All three were replaced with a new higher temperature sending unit that should be used in all these motors
I ordered a new "red" sender to replace the "white" sender I now have
Hopefully this will solve my problem and maybe save someone the aggravation I've gone through

"Joe,
My factory Chrysler manual only references it as a remove and replace. It don't show up in the trouble chart. I'm almost sure it was in my old Chrysler Seloc. Anyway, it should be on the port side bottom of the powerhead just in front of the exhaust port cover. It might not hurt to try cleaning it."

Hi I had the same problem with the same motor and what it turned out to be is the water pick up was pluged up with parts of the water pump at the bace of the power head so I would check that hope this helps. Bob

"I flushed it, back-flushed it
Replaced almost everything in the cooling system
The motor is old and tired
I'm going out tomorrow to try and get a new Mercury 115 hp Optima, it's 2 cycle and should be a good replacement"
