i have the instruction manual for this repair. I am changing water pump and when i disconnect shift linkage, it says to remove and keep plastic piece in between two shift rods. the little plastic piece looks like it is part of top shift rod and doesn't come off rod which won't let me remove nut which keeps me from dropping lower unit. is there a step i am missing that my manual doesn't show?
