Frank you have water in the intermediate?

Thank you sir. I am not sure even if I have to do the upper. But I am sure of tne lower. Funny in the fall when I dumped the oil in the lower unit Water came out first that is clear then oil and it was not milky it was as clear as the day I put it in. And no the boat dose not stay in the water all the time only when I use it. But this year it will be in most of the time.

"might just be fishing line in the prop shaft seal. Can be repaired without complete reseal.
Pressure / vacuum test will verify where intrusion is happening, but visual checks can sometimes reveal a mile of line in there and prop shaft will be wet with lube.
Can be dealt with on the boat without lower removal.
Fill and drain plug gaskets also a common culprit. "

Thank you Hystat. The only thing is should there not be some lube leaking from the prop shaft? If so there is none. How much pressure should I put in the lower unit and how long should I let it sit for?

"The only thing is should there not be some lube leaking from the prop shaft? If so there is none.

Frank...you have 2 back to back seals down there on the prop shaft, inner one to keep the lube in and outer to keep water out, the outer one is typically the one to get cut by fishing line and let the water in."

"I check my prop almost everytime before i go out.

I pull off the prop and thrust washer just to look on the seal.

I have seen line around the shaft funny it didn't at first look like line was all melted like a plastic washer.

I was lucky my, seals would be messed up if left alone.

I then shoot some grease in a can all over the shaft and splines.

I can then be assured that the prop will come off easy next time.

Above is all " I " do. Took me 3 times as long to type this post with 2 pecking fingers."

Thank you all for your help. I

Thank you all for your help. I will have to make a trip to Canadian Tire and look for some fitting and to make a pressure tester.
