1985 Mercury Black Max

I recently purchase 1988 Sea Rey with a 1985 black max had the carbs cleaned new starter I checked the gas for water and also added a water seperator
but the boat will not make power at idle and just cruising below 5mhp is fine but full power the boat does not go the mechanic is doing a new stator any one can help thanks

You need to start with the basics... Compression test, and proper spark test.
Post results, and we can then help further...

we did compression and it was about 125 to 135 across the board the mechanic said there might be an issue with the coil for example if #4 coil is bad it makes #5 coil act bad ?

Run it with a timing light on all the cylinders , that will show if there are spark problems.
