"I have a 25hp Mercury thats i believe is a mid 80's model. Well gradually the gears have seen to have gotten worse and worse. It has the shifter on the handle, where you turn in opposite direction for forward and reverse. It has always grinded slightly which i assume is normal, but it has recently gotten bad, to where it almost wont even go into reverse or drive at times, and grinds way too much. We want to work in this and make proper repairs over the winter. Any ideas of where to begin with this?"
