Hi. I'm planning on pullun

Hi. I'm planning on pullung out Mercruiser 898 from my 1984 Scorpion 187. Could anybody tell me what weight should I expect? Thanks!

If you are tight on lift capac

If you are tight on lift capacity you can pull the manifolds and risers to cut about 100 lbs or so.

I think I should be fine with lifting. I have 1 ton chain hoist and 1 ton trolley. The only thing I still need to figure out is if I can use a steel beem in my garage. It looks like it is W12x40 with 21' span between posts. The thing is that beam already carries some of the second floor load. I need to do more reaserch on that beam. I just wanted to know what weight I would be adding.

I think you will find that it will handle a 700 lb point load just fine.
If possible, brace it up on either side of the boat hull with a 6 x 6 vertical wood post shimmed up tight. This will greatly cut down the unsuppoprted beam length and you should be good to go (lift).
