Symptoms:
Starts right up, smokes a lot, doesn't seems like it's firing good on all cylinders.
Compression is good, 125 on all 6 plus or minus 2-3 lbs.
Carbs just rebuilt (after symptoms began), new needle/seat, floats, cleaned.
New trigger (mechanic friend was sure this was bad...)
New plugs
Still symptoms persist.
I used an old Sun diagnostic tester with tach leads and am seeing inconsistent rpm readings on some of the cylinders. (This is why the trigger was suspected.)
I assume my issue is electrical, but don't have much knowledge about testing components (and probably do not have the right diagnostic equipment. I have a multimeter, but not the DVA kind I keep reading about...)
Any suggestions?
I really prefer avoiding any local shop/mechanics - but will do what I need to to get on the water again, summer is short here. I don't have a lot of faith in any that I know of in the area - in 30 years of boating have not had a good experience with any repair shop around here - hence I'm a diy'r whenever possible.
