1985 Merc 115 runs rough

I have a Merc 115 6 cylinder. It was running rough as you gave it gas, it starts to surge. It runs good at 3/4 throttle but when you open it up it breaks down. I read in the Seloc book that it is a fuel problem. I have cleaned the carbs, rebuilt the fuel pump, I switched the gas lines and ran it straight off a tank. I have spark in all cylinders. Any ideas or help will be appreciated.

Thanks, Dan

Run a compression test on a warm engine w/the throttle wide open...use the kill switch to turn off the ignition when cranking. Repost what you find on each cylinder.

All 6 cylinders have good even compression. I have also replaced every fuel line on the motor and adjusted the floats on the carbs so I am pretty sure I do not have a fuel problem. Is a ohm meter a accurate way to test the coils and trigger? In the Seloc book it seems like a simple procedure, almost to simple.
