1985 Johnson Seahorse 15HP fuel mixture

IMG_3660.JPGDoes anyone know what this sticker showing 100:1 mixture on my 15 HP Johnson Seahorse motor truly means? I've always mixed 50:1. I assumed this was telling me that this adjustment knob to the carburetor could adjust the mixture down to 100:1. I put the motor up for sale and a potential buyer on ebay asked me the question. He basically accused me of putting a sticker on the motor that did not come on it so I would love to know exactly what this sticker represents and provide him with an answer before I tell him he has been blocked from purchasing this like new 30 yr old motor from me for calling me a liar.:):):)
 
That sticker should have been taken off long ago.--------For a couple of years they marketed these motors at 100:1 oil mixture.-----They found that it was a mistake and service bulletin came out.--------------Once you mix the gas and oil you can not change the mixture on that motor !!-------That adjustment is an idle stop and has nothing to do with changing mixtures on the carburetor !
 
That motor will run fine on 100:1. The problem came about when you stored the motor and didn't fog it out. Then they would rust up inside and freeze up. If you fogged them whenever you put them away all was okay.
 
Racerone, you have me curious about the comment below that "you can not change the mixture on that motor!!" - Are saying that he couldn't mix a new tank of fuel at 50:1 for that motor? If so, can you please explain why this is?

The factory put out a bulletin to go back to a 50:1 mixture.--That adjustment knob there is the idle stop for preferred idle speed.-----It is not a fuel mixture adjustment for the carburetor.-It is not an oil ratio adjustment either !
 
Your question was clearly answered in post # 5 I believe !------It has been said that the factory put out a bulletin to go back to 50:1 mix.-------------50:1 is twice the amount of oil compared to 100: 1 in this case !!!!

yes, the motor should be run at 50:1 ! remove the decal that says 100:1. it may get a bit messy if it idles for extended periods of time, but oil and plugs are cheaper than rods and pistons.
