I recently bought a pontoon with a 90 hp outboard. The engine runs fine until throttled up. I have to hold the key in to activate the choke to get it to throttle. It runs great with the choke on. Any suggestions?

try pumping your primer bulb and see if thats improves performance.......if so suspect fuel pump

if not suspect an air leak in a fuel line, water in the gas, some type of fuel restriction, or a fouled carb.

pushing the key in gives the eng raw gas......some are true choke systems and some are glorified electric primers."

"That usually indicates fouled carburetors. Been sitting awhile? If so, remove, clean, and rebuild the carburetors using complete carburetor kits. Kits available on this site, any dealership, NAPA, Sierra, etc."

I recently purchased a 1985 11

I recently purchased a 1985 115hp evinrude. the motor was running great until it stalled in the middle of the lake. after getting it home I found out the motor was siezing at one position. I can free it up with alittle pressure and it will spin for awhile then seize again. I removed the power head and found the lower bearing retainer bolt where off and laying on the pan under the power head. Now I believe I will have to break open the case and check the rod caps and ring to see if this is the problem. If anyone has any experience with this I would appreiciate some input. I am also looking for a complete motor overhaul gasket kit including the bearing retainer bolts which should have been replace the last time the motor was work on.
