1985 Evinrude Super 25 hp commercial lower unit

Thinking about picking up a used Evinrude 25 commercial for a couple hundred bucks, noticed that in 1985 the commercial model had the old split style lower unit case,where as the residential model had the newer stlye lower unit. From the BPR parts site it looks as though it might be possible to interchange these as the midsections look pretty much the same, I realize the area of concerns would be drive shft, exhust(thru prop vs external),shift linkage and bolt up pattern . My thought is that the availability of parts or replacement, if needed, would be greater with the newer style LU. If any has experiance with this or input about it, it would be appreiated. Also I can't seem to find a great deal of info on the difference between Commercial motors and Residential any input there is also welcome.

" commercial " motors are promoted as if they have better / as in heavy duty internal parts, not really true.-----------The big difference is the lower unit. The 2 cylinder 45 / 50 HP models often use a 3 cylinder lower unit.--------The V-4 units may use a V-6 lower unit.-----They are available as " tiller / manual start " as well.
 
Thanks for the replies, no known issues per the selller with the lower unit on the motor just noticed it had the split case and was wondering about the availabilty of parts on that older stlye, I was hoping that someone might have tried the conversion seeing how the powerhead is the same and the midsection is pretty close. In loooking at models before 1985 they all had that split case LU and the numbers match up to the 1985 commercial version that I am looking at, just curious about the reason to change by OMC
 
Maybe they had a barn full of older lower units that they needed to use up.----------Marketing people step in and say " put them on some motors and call them commercial models "
