I have recently required a 1985 Evinrude 4 horsepower outboard which I have been slowly trying to get running. I bought a new recoil spring for the pull start a few days ago but the spring I got seems too big for the housing. I have double checked the model number on the motor as well as the part number on the spring itself with multiple evinrude dealerships and everything seems to jive. Looking for advice. If it helps out any, the housing for the spring is on the backside of the cover of the motor itself
