"I have had this boat for about 10 years now, but its been sitting for the last 6 years at least. Never been run in a while, anyway, I decided to try and fire it up....put a new battery in it....turned the ignition on and the engine simply would not turn over.....it's not frozen because I was able to turn it over by hand. This is a list of all the circuits that worked.....the horn....the ignition switch (it has power going to it, with the oil pressure light coming on).....the blower....the running lights. Someone recommended I replace the starter relay, I took the starter down to AutoZone for a test and it worked perfect! Do you think by replacing the starter relay it might engage the solenoid and turn over? The number on my starter relay looks old and outdated. How can you test a relay? Any body know the correct replacement number for a starter relay? I found a relay on this web site (841177 Sierra Brand) with 4 prongs that might work as a replacement....any suggestions, appreciate any input on this, thanking you in advance!!!

"Hotwire the starter solenoid

"Hotwire the starter solenoid (flat prong) from the starter center post. If it turns, the starting relay (or the wire connections to the relay) is faulty (a common problem) so you will have to replace it."

It could also be a bad connect

It could also be a bad connection or a bad ignition switch.... Test light it and track it down that way... Listen for a click when you have someone turn the key.
If you hear a click then the relay is probably working. I agree with El... Hotwire it...

I had a similar problem the other day (on the ramp of course) and it turned out to be a ground on the motor... all gauges worked but no started... Tightened it up and problem went away (Thankfully)

I found a relay that worked at my local Radio Shack. Cost around $6.00
