1985 9.9 Won't Shut off

My motor starts and runs great but when I turn the key off it doesn't stop running. I've read that the black w/ yellow strip wire coming from the switch is not connected right? I found the same wire coming from the block but after so far it is all black. Any ideas on what to try?

Check that black/yellow all the way from the pulse pack to the ignition switch. When you ground it, it shuts off the motor. Sounds like you have an open circuit somewhere.

I have 2 wires coming from the motor 1 is grounded to the block and the other is the black /yel coming from a little plug in which I connected to the black /yel coming from the switch and the motor started but wouldn't shut off.

You may have a bad switch or a broken wire going to it.

So the black /yel should run straight to the motor and not meet at the solenoid?

Is this a remote ignition switch and not on the motor ??

It is a remote but it also has the push button on the motor.

Does the push button on the motor work ??

Yes it does work.

All I can say right now without seeing anything is you have some wiring probs between the motor and the ign switch or the switch it self.
