yesDoes boat have 20" transom?
jack plate also since it has 25" shaft
last lake test 7 mph... seems like plowing water at back end need to bring bow down...going to move two 45 lb batteries forward to mid boat and bring my 91 lb dog in the bow area and will let you know the outcome...had Vance Mfg manual adjustable jack plate with 6 in set back...cavitation plate was set at 1" above bottom of boat. motor is running on both cylinders with no misfires and plugs set at .035. even bought 7 p. Michigan prop never tried it yet. where should cavitation plate be adjusted to with 6 in. setback. starting to wonder if hub is possibly slipping even though it doesn't feel like it. forgot to mention also have new 8P Mercury prop. never tried it yet. Sorry i know i'm all over the board with this 9.8 with parts and thoughts and it's really getting very frustrating. any help will be greatly appreciated...will be retesting again in a week. thinking rpm's not at spec.Boat should be able to plane with one person.-----Is the motor running on both cylinders ?----What speed are you getting now?
purchased 2002 25hp johnson with very low hrs this past 2/24 but still was wanting to have 9.8 at optimum performance just for 10 hp lakes. still trying and thinking 9.8 should do better than 7 mph. looking for 12-14 maybe!!!You need 20 HP or more !
