1985 75hp mariner carb problem

"motor wont idle below 1200 rp

"motor wont idle below 1200 rpm and dies after 30 sec or so. when i spray carb cleaner thru idle screw adj hole,it comes out 1pair of holes at 3oclock position. 1 larger hole connects to port at back of carb,its clear.the pair of holes at the 2oclock position dont seem to pass any fuel,are theese for air or fuel? there is a welch plug near this pair- should i remove this? is it difficult to install? please help!"

"remove and clean all carbs after you do a compression test. You have been running the engine without oil. Those cyls don't share the fuel/oil, you are doing damage."

do a compression test. The bottom cylinders are always trouble in these. First ones to get taken out and ring chewed. There are plastic bleeder restrictors behind the intake transfer cover. They always fall out and cause problems at idle.

This motor will not idle at all if all 4 cylinders are not making nearly 100% power. It will choke right away.

"i've rebuilt these carbs 5 times by now,they are not dirty.compression from top to bottom:127,140,137,138.before i sprayed engine tuner it would not idle below 0*,after 5* after tdc which is close.i'm not sure how to set the idle on the carbs-butterfly open a hair or completely shut.it still dies when put in gear."
