" Thanks Joe for the info. Carbs and roller are OK. It is still stalling unless I press the electric primer.

Local mechanic says it is a problem under the flywheel. Stator, timing plate, etc.

During the rebuild the stator was filthy. I also had to remove the flywheel during the breakin period to secure the timing plate to the stator. All screws vibrated loose. My local mechanic told me he loosened them to make it easier for the timing plate to rotate. Some sort of design flaw. I may have them to tight now.

The timing linkages move in stages and are not a smooth constant rotation like the Carbs. Still runs great from mid to high throttle once I get beyond the middle timing plate position. "

Design flaw ??????????. I do

Design flaw ??????????. I do not think so. If the timer base does not rotate smoothly it usualy indicates dirt on the close fits or poor assembly of the block. Did the rebuild involve replacing the crankcase cover with one from another engine ??????.

"The item that supplys fuel to the electric fuel primer solenoid is the same item that supplys fuel to the carburetors. The fact that the engine performace improves when you engage the primer solenoid indicates that something has been overlooked within the carburetors (most likely) or the synchronization (possible) is not adjusted properly (the scribe mark on cam to center of roller).

That engine has no design flaw. Something has not been put together properly. There should be no loose screws, bolts, etc anywhere on that engine."
