1985 3.0 no spark from coil to distributor

It was running last summer when I shut it down for winter. Went to fire it up and now I am not getting spark from coil to dist. , So I put on new coil and still not firing up. Have gas and turns over great only 289 hrs on engine. ???? Looks like new points and condenser, cap and rotor and wires

is the resistor any good?
check to see if you have voltage to the coil

I agree with Goatman. You can check the voltage. I am bullet pointing some ideas and questions so you can copy-paste reply more easily.

• How did you determine no spark? Because it isn't starting? Or did you use a spark tester? I ask because it is important to isolate the issue. If its not starting it could be as simple as stale fuel, poor fuel delivery, etc.
  • Spark testers are cheap and you can get them at any auto parts store. Link below.

• How is the electrical on the rest of the boat running?
  • battery voltage?
  • Did you check any fuses? There was another fella recently who ended up fixing a similar issue with a 50 AMP fuse. Link to that thread below.

Ayuh,...... Did you service the points,..??

These 4 & 6 cyl engines will corrode the points after long periods of inactivity. I'm not sure if it occurs if stopped with points open or closed is the culpret. Some 180 sandpaper on the points will usually get it running.
