1985 235hp evinrude fuel pump.

I have a 235 hp. 1985 evinrude. I have eliminated the vro pump do to a second failure. Now I am pre mixing. Going to put an electric fuel pump on the engine that puts out between 4 to 16lbs. Of pressure. Any suggestions about how much it should have on pressure. Book says a v6 should use no more than 16 I believe.

If you are going to use 16 lbs pressure you might consider wearing a parachute all the time on the boat !!!---Find out if and why the VRO failed.-------Did you take these simple pumps apart ??------Did you assume it was a faulty pump ?

I trouble shot them according to the book and they turned out bad. Upon then pulling them apart the diaphragms were torn. So I'm just gonna pre mix from now on. At least I know it's getting oil then.

Thanks. Not sure on the gpm. It does get thirsty at wot. But usually it's headed to a fishing hole then trolling all day with the trolling motor. It's on a 21 foot bass boat that runs 72 at sea level. So I don't mind it being thirsty. The pump I'm planning on using is electric. It'll turn on when the motor is running not just with the key switch. Thanks for your response.
