"Hello all. I have a 1985 20 HP Mariner that I am going through for my grandfather. I have rebuilt the Carb and while installing I noticed something that I did not see during disassembly. The stiff-wire linkage that runs from the plastic lever actuated by the push-pull idle adjuster seems like it can be connected one of two ways to the trigger near the rotor (under the cord spool). One way is how it was when I disassembled it with the stiff-wire simply passed though the white nylon guide that moves radially around the centerline of the rotor. What I noticed during re-assembly is that there is a hole in the metal disk just above this guide. The hole is in the perfect place to also pass the stiff-wire linkage though the metal disk to actuate it and the white nylon guide. But, the disk does not seem to want to move radially as the guide does. Is this metal disk some sort of ignition advancer/retarder that should be connected to the stiff-wire linkage... or is this hole just a coincidenc and the white nylon guide is the only thing that the stiff-wire linkage should actuate. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. I bought the on-line Seloc manual... it is TERRIBLE. No diagrams or exploded views of anything. A huge disappointment. Thanks again... Bill"
