1985 150 Black Max Tilt Trim?

Anyone know why my tilt gauge may not be working. The gauge tests fine.

Could be the sender is bad,the wiring has a short.The connections?
Unhook the wiring at the motor.
Ohm meter across both leads.
Activate by hand it should make the meter react the same as your guage.

If the wires are intact I have cleaned out old grease in the old style pucks. Scribe a line across both halves and open it, remove the grease, polish the contact surface w/an eraser or LIGHTLY w/1500 grit sandpaper. Reassemble and lube w/ 2-4-C.

Where is the sender/pucks located?

Thanks, that was an easy fix... I don't have one of those on the motor! I should be able to buy and install right?

Yes. If you have a gauge installed in the dash someone has either removed the sender or swapped engines w/o one.

The engine was swapped out, so I'll check and see if there are mounting holes for the trim sender. It has a trim gauge, but who knows! It is tough to see where the sender actually attaches, is there a way to describe where it goes?

Go to a dealer and look at an engine w/one attached...take a few pictures.

Look at the wiring carefully; colors, how they're routed, secured and where they're connected.
