there is a sticker on the side that looks like 100:1 would this be right

it's recommended to use 50:1 because lots of engine jammed up with 1:100.
 
It wasn't as much as the j

It wasn't as much as the jamming up was the concern. It would be fine running at WOT but when you came to an idle it wouldn't save enough oil to keep the bearings and moving parts lubricated.
The biggest problem arose when you shut it down and it sat for a while and restarted the oil on the moving parts had drained off and you were starting a dry engine. That is where most of the failures came into play.
