Im totally new to outboards, im lookin for a breakdown or advise on how to replace water pump in this motor.
I have extensive mechanical knowledge most auto and motorcycle. the problem im having is that i bought a bass boat with this engine i managed to get the motor running and the water pump was working just fine with the muff installed after running it for a little while it just stopped peeing out so i shut it down at first start up the water took approx 20 seconds to start peeing out but then the stream was good
and ideas or help would be fantastic

"Muffs is not the correct way

"Muffs is not the correct way of testing water pump, barrel/drum or better at sea is.
Disconnect the shift rod, take out screw going through rod under the carb on port side of engine.
Take out the screws holding the gear-case, don't forget the one under the trim tab.
Drop down the gear case.
Whenever changing impeller (2-5 years), always check thermostat(s) and pressure valve(s) at the same time."
