1984 evinrude outboard

My 1984 evinrude has not ran in about a year. New battery, gas line, spark plugs and gas can. I have spark and it will run at high rpm for about 45 seconds when I take the spark plug out but with the spark plug in it lags and wont start at all. It is getting gas all the way through. Any one have this problem? Not sure what else it could be. Why does it run without a spark plug?
 
A 2HP or 200 HP motor ?----So it runs when you take plugs out ?--What do you mean by " why does it run without a sparkplug "------One plug or 2 plugs, sorry---- some more details would be nice.

Sorry 40hp. It has 2 spark plugs but will run with 1. It will not run at all with 2 spark plugs in but runs hard when one is taken out.

Have you done a compression test? What readings?

Can you get sparks from both coils that will jump at least 3/8"

Does it make any difference which plug you take out or is it the same whichever one you remove?
Do you get the same results by just disconnecting the plugs one at a time?
