Can anyone shed some light on why I am getting a grease like substance coming from my water intake and cooling holes. I had a heating problem and replaced impeller, have problems putting it back together, we flipped it upside down. Could this be part of the problem. I have checked the level in gear case after refilling and does not appear to be missing any oil or be contaminated by water!

Fact for you.-----When a 2 stroke engine is running some air / fuel / oil mix goes right through the motor and into the exhaust housing.----It is wasted by the cylinder scavenging process when piston is at the bottom of the stroke.----So it is normal.-----If no water is in your gear oil you are " good to go " as they say.
