1984 evinrude 35hp, slow speed needle valve setting.

I'm going to rebuild the carb on my 1984 evinrude 35hp. Unfortunately, before I realized what I was doing, I unscrewed the slow speed needle valve without counting. Once I clean the carb, and put it all back together, I'd like to get close on the valve setting.

Can anyone suggest how many turns to set it at?

Thanks

Lightly seat it, then turn it out 1.5 turns (counter-clockwise). Start it up and let it warm up. Now lower the throttle until the idle is about as slow as it can go and then slowly turn in (clockwise) the needle about 1/8 of a turn at a time. Give the motor 10seconds to respond. If the idle increases, reduce it back. Keep doing this until it starts to cough and wants to die. Then turn it back out (counter-clockwise) about a 1/4 turn and you are good to go. Should never need to adjust it again.
