1984 evinrude 150 vro

I have a 1984 Evinrude 150 vro running perfect with gas/oil mixed . the other day I took it out and the Warning Horn got so hot it melted but it has never made a sound. boat has been sitting for several years and I just acquired it . the boat is a 1984 four winns horizon 190 . I took the Warning Horn off and it had 3 wires going to it looked like 2 to the ignition switch and 1 to the motor . any ideas why it would do this ? im thinking just old ??

I don't personally know, but I have seen on the forum that the three wire horn is a POS that is from the gurus on the forum. The engine didn't overheat did it?

OMC did have some horns that did that. Replace it and check to make sure it works.

Didn't overheat . Gauge same as always plus I checked all 3 wires and they were not hot at all
