1984 e115tlcrd remove lower unit

I am trying to remove the lower unit on a 1984 e115tlcrd to replace the water pump. I have removed what I think is all of the necessary bolts to get the unit off. I have removed the shift rod collar bolt, the trim tab and the bolt under the trim tab and one bolt just ahead of it. and the four bolts under the gear case flange to the exhaust manifold. That's a total of six bolts from the lower unit. I was expecting the unit to drop out, but it will not come out. I have about 1/8" gap at the flange and cam move the gear case left and right about 1/4 " each way but it will not drop any further. Does anyone in this forum have any experience with what I am describing? At this point I am at a loss.

Did you remove the PIN that goes horizontally through the shift rod ? --Yes or no ?-------Sometimes the drive shaft is stuck in the crankshaft by rust.---------Simply due to a lack of attention over the years.
